Grantown-on-Spey

The Spey and its tributary, the Dulnain, are world renowned salmon and trout streams, and the slopes of the Cairngorm Mountains outside the town draw skiers and mountaineers from all over Britain.

Much of Speyside's mixed woodland is one of the last remnants of the ancient forest of Caledonia that once covered the whole of Scotland.

Higher up the slopes you will find many species of wildflowers beneath the heather moors.

Bird watchers too come from miles to catch a glimpse of the Ospreys and their young nesting in the Abernethy Forest near Loch Garten

For the golfing enthusiast there is an excellent local 18 hole course, and a further 6 courses in Badenoch and Strathspey District.

From Grantown excursions north to Inverness and the Black Isle, west to Loch Ness and Fort William or east to Aberdeen and Balmoral are all within a day's drive.
